Standing Up for Traditional Values

In Congress, Johnny has:

  • Continued to teach the same sixth grade Sunday School class he has taught since 1978.
  • Cosponsored a Constitutional Amendment to ensure legal marriages can only be granted to a man and a woman (HJ Res. 56, 108th Congress).
  • Voted to enact new provisions to support faith based charities filling critical needs in our society (HR 7, 108th Congress).
  • Voted to ensure a large portion of federal international AIDS prevention funds are designated for abstinence based education (HR 1298, PL 108-25).
  • Publicly voiced his support for the right of Georgia communities to publicly display the Ten Commandments (HR 2045, 108th Congress).
  • Voted to crack down on Internet gambling companies that victimize families and children by encouraging gambling in states and communities where it is illegal (HR 2143, 108th Congress).
  • Supported repeal of the marriage penalty, which forces married couples to pay more in taxes than they would pay if they were unmarried (PL 107-16).
  • Cosponsored legislation to keep the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance (HRes. 132, 108th Congress).
  • Led debate on the floor of the House of Representatives in favor of passing legislation protecting voluntary prayer in schools (HC Res. 239, 107th Congress).

In the Senate, Johnny will:

  • Vote to confirm federal judges that will base their decisions on sound legal principles and respect the free exercise of religion.
  • Stand up to the liberal agenda of removing all public displays of religious devotion from American society.
  • Fight to end abuses of the Internet that expose children and families to illegal gambling and pornography.
